Sad When the system is running and hot water is being used, the header tank back fills with hot water from the cold feed, when the shut off valve is operated , suprise suprise the water fill from the vent, causing yet more water to flow from the overflow pipe, the reverse fill is like a trickle but very effective!

The valve has been changed in the tank ( due to the thinking that the overflow was caused by it). but nothing else has been changed!

I problem could be 1 of several with bad installation being top.

The coil in the cylinder could be holed and a good sign would be brown water at the hot taps.

Can you email me a sketch or jpeg of the system, showing pump, motorised valves cylider etc.

Also more info on the boiler, pump model and speed setting,
