Hi there,

I am currently trying to fix a BAXI Barcelona and have run out of things to try. The problem is as follows. When you turn the boiler on the boiler will start and run okay. IF you then turn it off and immediatly turn it back on again the flame spreads across the burner assembly for about 3 secs but then goes out again. If you let it sit for about 30 secs and turn it on again it usually lights. Sometime the fan makes a whoosh noise on starting.

I checked the flame recgonition lead and it look okay. I change dthe flame ignition PCB and the inetrface PCB and this didnt solve the problem. I cleaned all the copper sulphide out of the gas valve and this didnt solve the problem. The flame seems to be burning with quite and orange colour and this is even after cleaning all the **** out of the burner assembly. The white gasket around the edge of the burner assembly has basically all flaked off.

The main control board was changed 2 years ago and it seems to be okay. Have you any ideas at what else i should be looking at??

Thansk in advance guys

Sean

May I suggest getting an expert in to check the boiler. It is not working correctly and having described what you have done so far I would be concerned as to the safety of the appliance particually when you imply continued use of the appliance yet say a gasket/seal has flaked to the extent it is non existant.

Good advice Alan, especially in view of the DIY gas job in the news recently.
