It just makes a motor noise. anyway I got an engineer to see it and he said it would cost 400 quid to replace the divertor valve which was at fault according to him, as the valve costs 150 plus
He also suggests that the hardness of the water causes some valve to dysfunction and has suggested to get a de-silter to be inserted in as well.
I checked on other sites and the diverter doesnt seem to cost more than 100 quid
any suggestions
thanks |

I need real good advice man.
In continuity to the previous story, I had the diverter valve replaced for 150 pounds and additional 90 pounds labour charge. Then i was told that the boiler was overheating and a valve needed repalcement. When the engineer came to replace the valve he changed the version and said that he felt the boiler was blocked in some way and suggested to replace the whole boiler.
Now I have spent 400 quid without any hot water or heating and a suggestion to change the whole boiler for 2500 quid
I need help on this matter.
I am in buckinghamshire |

There are 5 or 6 versions of the 9.24 electronic so a GC number would help.
Also vague comments like a valve was replaced and he changed the version. What valve and what version?? |

hello
GC number is 47-311-04
The diverter valve was chaged. After that there was no hot water so he said that the auto air valve plus pressure release should be replaced.
When the engineer came the next day to replace these things he changed the version of his story and said that nothing needs to be replaced and he will get the boiler started in half an hour but after half an hour he said that the boiler was over heating due to blockage in the boiler and he is now suggesting replacement of the whole boiler.
Now the boiler is not working as there is no flame.
Any suggestions?
Thank you. |

47-311-04 it the electronic OF model
The auto air vent and prv has nothing to do with the running of the boiler, the mans a chancer, get rid of him now.
By no flame do you mean pilot.
As I said in my email, has the boiler got water and is the pump running.
Before changing any parts it's essential that the associated witing is checked for continuity and correct routing.
Alan will know more than me about what to check.
But you need to say exactly what does and what doesn't happen |
