Hope someone can help.
I have a consumer unit in my house with no spare ways. I want a supply to my garage, I also need an electric cooker installed (my present one is gas) and a supply for an electric shower.
Is my only option a new, larger consumer unit, or can I install an extra consumer unit to supply the new MCBs ?
Thanks in advance |

You can add a new/additional cu no problem as long as it is done by a part p registered contractor.

If I was you, I would first get a competent person i.e a good electrician to check and see what size of supply cable is running into your house, just in case you are in an older type house with an inadequate supply.
P.S dont forget the RCD for the garage!!!!
Changing a D.B is not a job for someone who needs to ask on a forum when to do it, I agree with the gentleman above, get a decent spark to do the job. |
