I have a problem with my combi, when i turn on my hot water somtimes the burner lights but then goes out after a couple of mins, sometimes it does not even bother to light all and there is problems with the central heating.
There was clicking noise coming from behind the temperature clock but i have not heard that today, as it tends to happen just before the heating comes on and i was at work.
I go to run a bath and the water starts to come through hot but then goes cold as ice, i had to have a bath in about an inch of water, the same things happens with the shower and the sinks water comes through hot and then the burner stops and the water is cold, nothing else is on at the time (no washer etc).
I had a corgi registered engineer out (a good friend) and he checked the miillbar setting and all was ok as the boiler didi not play up while he was here he got a worcester engineer (his brother) to come out and because it was not happening at that time he said it could possibly be the pcb, i also got the guy out who fitted it 3 years ago and he said it may the air flow valve (the big white thingy on the right) as it was a common fault and that it may not be the pcb.
Any ideas gratefuly appreciated.
Excpet buying a new boiler...lol |

I can't believe the Worcester guy cannot suggest a fix.
Sounds like pcb although it could just as easily be the pump sticking, flow switch, fan or any other part including a loose connection.
Need to eyeball it when the problem shows, otherwise you could end up changing parts |

Becasue it was not happening while he was here the worcester guy said it may be the pcb, he phoned me last night and said 93.25+vat (about £110) for the board and £30 fitting (total rip off) for a friends brother, that is supposed to be trade, i can get the board delivered off someone for £100. But he said it may be cheaper to phone worcester as he said he thinks they replace three parts for £190 did not saying anyhting about vat. He said he would ask for the job and if it was not the pcb he would replace the faulty bit and make sure he left me extras just in case.
Same with the british gas engineer who fit the combi in the first place along with his corgi registered friend (someone my dad knows) he said becasee it was not happening it could be anything but said he had replaced loads of aps on this model that were found to be faulty.
I only wish i could get a loan of a board to try before i waste my money, |
