The low voltage transformer that I've bought tells me that I can wire up the lights in parallel or series. I'd have thought that if I wired them in series, I'd only be giving each lamp (4 in total) 3V each, thus affecting the brightness of the lamps. Any ideas.

Wiring in parallel gives each light the same brightness.
