| My daughter is 12 years old and has been complaining about her right upper leg hip area. She is 5'6 and weighs 124lbs. she plays soccer and basketball, in soccer she is the goalie. She's right footed. She noticed last week it hurt when she would punt the ball. i gave her motrin that seemed to work but it does not seem to be getter better. i have made an appointment with the sports medicine doctor at Childrens Hospital. Can you help? |

i was just looking through this forum and thought i could offer some thing i'm not a moderator but i have some info.
women have broader pelvises than men this makes their leg bones a slightly different angle and thus cause the foot to roll inwards when they hit the ground during running, this combined with extensive kicking produces more hip and groin injurys for women especially the greater trochanter. the fact that your daughter is only 12 is worrying but also good as the chance of recovery and rectification are very strong. you are right to go to a sports injury clinic and soon. they can usually find the fault and offer a good solution.
the important thing is to get something done soon. |

Iansas.
You don't need to be a moderator to answer topics, they just keep it clean so to speak.
