I have a parkray fire which burns antracite coal . I have not used the fire for some years as I now use oil for my central heating. Could I use this fire to burn say wood, turf or ordinary coal and what precautions should I take when re-activating this fire?

Have the chimney checked and/or cleaned, and the firebox inspected.
