|

Hi,
I had an electrician come to install a second power socket (2-gang type) on the other side of a brick wall simply by drilling a hole in the wall and running a cable through it. This is all pretty obvious except for the fact that he didn't turn off the mains whilst he did it.
How would that be possible? Presumably even if he isolated himself by wearing rubber gloves and rubber boots there would still be a pretty large risk that something would go wrong? Or is there a secret method that I am unaware of?
Thanks much for any replies. |

seems like he has connected the new socket up then connected the cable from it into the old socket 'live'
doing that is strongly not recomended
there was probibly no need to work 'live' it would have probibly been out of lazyness that he didnt take the time to isolate the circuit properly
and yes there was a risk something would go wrong, seems like he has no basic safety appreciation for himself or for others |

I totally agree with Paul, it is just very bad practice.
