I have a sealed central heating system powered by a TI Fuelsaver 30-40 combi boiler. System keeps failing suddenly every 2-3 weeks (sometimes longer). Air is getting into the boiler (sounds like there's an angry elephant with a hammer in there!) and as a result I can't re-light it. As soon as the boiler fires up there's very loud banging and clanking and then the thermo-coupler cuts the gas off.

Odd thing is the pressure guage above the expansion valve does not budge for weeks and then suddenly dips down to zero?? So I'm assuming its not a leak??

Any suggestions on how to release the air in the system would be much appreciated (by me AND the angry elephant!!)

Have a Corgi-approved engineer booked but I'm concerned I'll be ripped off like I was by the last plumber who came!!
