Hi
Your man is correct as off Arpil fools day, and he probably also told you that there's an additional fee that has to be paid to Corgy, who in return will issue a safety certificate and notify building control, although how they can legally do that without an inspection is unknown at this time.
There is some good information available at Argi, an association we started for gas installers, and although you will not be able to join you can see some good stuff as a guest, and you could point your engineer towards the site.

Back to your problem;
In writing please, inform your engineer that you do not want your details revealed, under the data protection act, and you do not want Corgy contacting you.
Under the house buyers pack which everyone, including insurance, solicitors, estate agents, and the dogs (corgy) assume wrongly will become law in 2007, whereas it will only be voluntary according to the ODPM for a test period.
Can you post this topic under the plumbing section, Poolcorgi (kev) and others in the trade will add to it, but from the 1st your engineer will be screwed by corgy and their cash machine as will the rest of us.
You can refuse to allow that info to be passed on, that is what you should do, your engineer will give you a completion certificate with his registration mumber, why give corgy an addition fee for a worthless and potentially dangerous piece of paper |
