Is there any way I can check when something became a legal requirement?
A solicitor has told me that a new rule within the last two years (ish) means that if part of your house is a flying freehold (bedroom over alleyway) the mortgage company of the prospective buyers will require a one-off insurance payment. I just want to know what this rule states and when it came into force. Can anyone help, please?
No-one mentioned this to me when I bought the property 22 months ago, nor did they tell me part of it was a flying freehold. Who should have? The solicitor or surveyor? Or no-one?! |
