When I put on my hot or cold taps I get a noise and vibration that could rival the speakers at an AC/DC gig. My plumber tells me it's "Water Hammer". He's been up in the loft but can find no problems. He has attached a clasp to the cold water feed pipe which appears to be the pipe that's causing the problem but this actually makes the problem worse. A while back, the taps and to a lesser degree the sinks vibrated, now it seems like the walls and doors are vibrating too!!

Any ideas how I can sort this out before my neighbours file a petition to have me removed?

Thank you

Drain down the entire system. Open all faucet and tub valves, flush the toilets. Now close all the faucets and tub valve. Now turn the water back on. Strating at the lowest faucet in the house. open them and bleed the air from the lines. This should help or cure the problem.
