I seem to recall reading or hearing somewhere that powerflushing is not much good for microbore systems i.e. those with 8mm and 10mm pipework.

I guess this is because it is difficult to get a good flow rate through the pipe work and the flushing would take longer.

Anyway care to confirm or dismiss this?

Thanks

Boiler man insist that the system is powerflused, that includes microbore systems.

I never fit that type of installation, because of cirulation problems, but saying that a good maachine should work on any size.

I would also suggest that perhaps it wouldn't be a bad thing from new to regularly flush.

Thanks scruff

I agree that regular flushing is the way to go, but not convinced that powerflushing is needed all the time. There must be something said for dropping some sludge remover in the system and letting the CH pump do the work for a month and then flushing the heating circuit and adding antioxidant.

I guess powerflushing is only needed if you need to clean and flush quickly or if there is a definite restriction / blockage / build-up sludge to remove.

My boiler has been chuging away for over 25 years, with no inhibitor etc, and is all original including the pump and three port valve.

Only thing that busted was the thermocouple twice.
