how can i get very cheap air fares to LAX Los Angeles, is there such a thing as stand by anymore?

I always take a standby ticket.

You have to phone the airport during the week you would like to travel and hope for the best at this time of year.

Last minute cancellation can be pick up very cheaply, but availability depend on numbers in your party.

Another option is to get a job for an airline, even part time and make use of their staff travel perks..

I've have never bought a stand by ticket. I use travel zoo they send top deals by email and they are usually pretty good.

Easiest way is to turn up at the airport and see which plane has an empty seat.

No good if you want to go somewhere specific, or you're not traveling alone.
